Due to our sustained growth, Sedgman Prudentia Pty Ltd is excited to offer an opportunity for a seasoned Principal/Lead Process Engineer or Metallurgist. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise and project delivery experience across various unit operations and processing areas in the mineral processing industry. You will be responsible for leading and directing studies, feasibility, and detailed design projects, with the potential to provide on-site and off-site support for projects in execution. This position requires a professional who can navigate complex technical challenges, mentor junior team members, and ensure the successful delivery of projects from initiation through to detailed design and implementation.
Your Background:
- Degree in Metallurgy or Chemical/Process Engineering. (CPEng) status is highly desirable.
- 10+ years in project delivery covering feasibility/option studies, Front End Engineering, Detailed Design, and Commissioning.
- Experience within a consultancy environment or technical project delivery is essential.
- Demonstrated experience as a Project Process Engineer discipline lead, responsible for developing key Process Engineering deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, mass balance, control philosophy strategy, and common deliverables (e.g., site layouts, pipeline routing, datasheets).
- Solid, first-principles technical knowledge across various mineral processing plant operations. Examples include grinding, flotation, leaching, electro-refining or winning, solvent extraction, ion exchange, calcination, and precipitation.
- Demonstrated experience in multidiscipline projects and understanding of the linkages between different engineering disciplines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to clients and internal teams.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in the use of project scheduling software (e.g., MS Project) and familiarity with metallurgical modelling software (e.g., METSIM, IDEAS).
- Experience in designing, troubleshooting, and/or debottlenecking copper, nickel, uranium, gold, lithium, or aluminium processing plants.
- Ability to develop reports and presentations that are clear, concise, and consistent.
