As our Principal Engineer – Overhead Wiring (OHW), you will enhance your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s renowned Rail team.
Based in Melbourne, you will be our technical lead in Victoria, collaborating with talented professionals working on iconic projects - strengthening our OHW offering for projects both locally and nationally, driving future ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities for years and generations to come!

Transport
Our Transport and Infrastructure team leverages a collaborative approach, the latest technology and a culture of innovation across the planning, design, and management phases to deliver sustainable connectivity, mobility, and resiliency to Australian communities.
What you’ll do:
You will be taking a leading technical role for Overhead Wiring design not only in Victoria, but nationally for WSP! You will also be tasked in mentoring and the development of more junior engineers, ensuring that we are cultivating and supporting our Engineers of tomorrow.
A full position description is available on request, but a snapshot of your day to day will look like (but not be limited to):
- Being a technical leader, proactively maintain effective networks and relevant industry relationships to gain cooperation in meeting business and client outcomes.
- Complying with all role specific HSEQ obligations.
- Establishing project OHS&E objectives and targets.
- Promoting the continual improvement of best practice OHS&E and Quality systems and behaviours.
- Coaching others in the identification and management of ethical issues associated with area of work or practice area.
- Providing technical review of work performed by the team.
- Providing expert technical input to a diverse range of projects in line with WSP quality system and client requirements.
- Mentoring junior engineers in technical, project delivery and client relationships.
- Providing expert input to pursuits and proposals
About You
You’re likely to be a proven leader in Overhead Wiring and Safety in Design. You have knowledge of establishing project quality and risk management systems, project communications integration systems and have a solid understanding of contracts and commercials as related to project delivery.
In addition, you are:
- Bachelor’s degree (Engineering) or Equivalent
- Have MTM design and checker competencies
- Have proven and extensive experience in Overhead Wiring at Senior Engineer level or above, ideally at Consultancy level
And possesses the following attributes:
