We're looking a skilled Principal Engineer of Track to join the Engineering team at Hedland Operations. As a Principal Engineer, you'll work within a dynamic and collaborative team dedicated to optimising heavy haul railway operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with key stakeholders regularly such as Safety, Operations, RSM, Procurement, and others.
- Monitor performance of key track assets including rails, turnouts, hydraulic machines, bridge structures, and bearings.
- Lead design specification preparation of track assets and components, including acquisition and modifications.
- Lead engineering technical documentation preparation, review & approvals.
- Technical interface for discipline related decarbonisation projects, particularly in electrification of track maintenance assets.
- Coordinate with accreditation bodies and regulators for the introduction of new track technologies.
- Act as the technical authority on rail safety matters.
- Lead investigations into engineering failures and conduct reliability reviews.
- Develop life cycle assessments for track assets and implement monitoring and replacement plans.
- Support the central asset management team in implementing best practices for track management and strategic planning.
- Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Substantial years of related experience with track, ideally in the rail freight or heavy haul industry.
- Thorough practical understanding of rail reliability analysis and asset management techniques.
- Detailed understanding of rail condition monitoring techniques and systems.
