About the Role:
This role is a multifaceted and critical position within the organisation, and you will report directly to the Finance Manager. This role involves supporting the Finance Manager and coordinating various aspects related to strategic financial planning, financial reporting, and governance for Heavy Industry Australia.
You will be part of a newly formed, dynamic and exciting team supporting the Heavy Industry Australia team on product programmes to successfully achieve decarbonisation. To be successful in this role, you will need to be a quick but critical thinker, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the month-end financial statement close (FSC) process by maintaining value of work done (VOWD), accrual calculations, journal entries, and accurate forecast variance commentary.
- Coordinate annual and quarterly strategy and financial planning process, by applying rigour to budget assumptions and ensuring forecasts are accurately maintained within reporting systems.
- Deliver robust and timely financial and management reporting to stakeholders, including provision of insightful analytical commentary.
- Ensure the accuracy of accounting in accordance with Group Accounting Policies under IFRS to maintain a strong control environment.
- Lead and coordinate New Product Creation Systems (NPCS) financial deliverables
- Assist in the full and half year audit process by answering audit queries as directed.
- Assist in maintaining an efficient system of internal controls over finance-related processes.
- Supporting development of 5-10-year business plans including detailed financial models including long term Opex, Capex and revenue forecasts (including tax, transfer pricing, product development costs, targeted internal rate of return etc)
- Continually identify and deliver finance process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborating with other Finance departments, including Energy Finance, to ensure alignment on financial forecasting and planning from a capital allocation perspective.
- Ensuring financial planning and budgeting tools / systems (i.e. Anaplan, SAP, Excel) are fit for purpose.
Qualification and Skills
- 7 – 10 years commercial / financial experience in a similar role at a complex and fast-paced organisation, preferably in resources, heavy industry, energy, or manufacturing.
- SAP experience preferred, including knowledge of PP, MM, FI modules.
- Strong understanding of IFRS. Ability to grasp complex accounting issues and communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to distil, synthesise and draw conclusions from large amounts of information and data.
- Strong understanding of Project Planning and Project Cost Control.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Strong business writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise financial planning and reporting systems, such as SAP, Anaplan, PIMS and Power BI experience highly desirable.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility.
- CA or CPA qualified.
