We work in urban, rural and remote locations in onshore, near-shore / marine and offshore environments. Our clients include principal contractors, consultants, specialist geotechnical contractors, mining and energy companies, private owners/developers and government agencies, insurers and legal firms.

About the role
We are seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our rapidly growing Perth team of geotechnical professionals. You will provide leadership within a high performing team as you deliver a range of geotechnical solutions in the building, infrastructure, resources and energy industries, locally and nationally. You will use your initiative and problem-solving abilities to deliver great outcomes for clients, with support from other FSG senior personnel.
The role will involve design, analysis and reporting relating to geotechnical services which may include:
- site investigation and characterisation
- soil structure interaction
- foundation and retention systems
- earthworks and pavements
- ground improvement
- slope risk assessment
- temporary works design
The role will also involve a range of responsibilities including:
- project leadership for a wide variety of geotechnical projects
- development of new and existing client relationships
- business development and procurement including proposals/tenders
- training, supervising and mentoring more junior staff.

Skills and experience
The role requires the following attributes & experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology/Civil Engineering
- 15+ years' experience in Geotechnical Engineering, some local experience in Perth
- A background in (or good understanding of) finite element modelling and review
- Proven ability to lead a team of Geotechnical Engineers/geologist to deliver technically challenging projects
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Strong industry network and business development capabilities
- Team oriented and ability to interact successfully with people in a range of industry positions and roles
