Who are we?
Liontown Resources (ASX: LTR) is an ASX listed company, with a focus on battery minerals. We aim to be an ESG leader in the resources sector and a globally significant provider of battery minerals for the rapidly growing clean energy market.
Our Kathleen Valley Lithium Project in Western Australia is a Tier-1 battery metals asset with grade and scale. It is one of the largest and highest-grade hard rock lithium deposits in the world and is at the forefront of Liontown's low-carbon future.
About the role
Liontown Resources mining team keeps growing! We are seeking applications for a Geotechnical Engineer. This is a permanent opportunity based at our Kathleen Valley lithium project on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.
You will be joining the team at a pivotal point, having the Mount Mann pit fully operational and fast charging to underground operations and production. The unique underground setup involves six portals to support a one-way truck circuit, enhancing safety and efficiency due to the substantial movement and size of the ore body.
Reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent, this position will be responsible for Geotechnical input into both the Kathleen Corner Open Pit and Underground mining operations at Kathleen Valley.
- Conduct geotechnical inspections for both underground and open pit operations.
- Assist in developing, implementing, analysing, and communicating monitoring regimes related to groundwater, rock mass conditions, and backfill placement.
- Perform stoping stability assessments and back analysis of stope performance.
- Design and provide instructions for geotechnical ground support and rehabilitation requirements.
- Undertake geotechnical mapping and core logging to supply timely data for design and performance reviews.
- Monitor safe work practices in and around open pit and underground operations.
- Ensure mine development aligns with geotechnical standards.
- Analyse open pit monitoring data and offer recommendations on slope performance.
- Review and audit ground support and backfill QAQC for compliance assurance.
- Regularly review mine geotechnical performance and communicate findings with mine production personnel.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly established mining department as we move Kathleen Valley toward operations mid year. We have a world-class underground operation with a 23 year mine life commencing at 3Mtpa and ramping up to 4Mtpa.

Why Liontown
Our purpose is to find and develop lithium and other mineral deposits required to support the transition to a low-carbon future. The minerals we will mine are key to the electric vehicle and energy storage industries that will contribute to a low-carbon future.
We aim to be a globally significant ESG leader and provider of battery minerals for the rapidly growing clean energy market. We partner with customers and suppliers who can demonstrate their ESG credentials.
The materials we produce are a critical input to global decarbonisation efforts and it is our responsibility to produce them with the lowest possible carbon footprint and manage the environmental impact at every stage. For this reason, at our Kathleen Valley operation, we have made a significant upfront capital investment via our energy partner, Zenith Energy, to ensure that at least 60% of our start-up energy requirements will come from renewable energy, from what is currently expected to be the largest off-grid wind-solar-battery storage hybrid power station for a mining project in Australia.
As the world transitions to a low-carbon future, we aim to be part of the solution, not contribute to the problem.
