As well as monitoring the standards of care provided, Safer Care Victoria is partnering with patients, clinicians and health service managers to support the continuous improvement of health care.How you'll make a difference:The Principal Maternal and Child HealthNurse Advisor, Safer Care Victoria, (SCV) is responsible for supporting the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer in providing strategic clinical leadership and advice on issues related to Maternal and Child Health (MCH) nursing services as well as broader health system matters in relation to safety and quality improvement. The role will work closely with the Director, Maternal and Child Health and Early Parenting at the Department of Health (DH) to support quality, safety and improvement in the delivery of statewide MCH services, programs and MCH workforce development initiatives, in line with the Minster for Childrens' reform priorities under the Children's portfolio.The role requires leadership and senior clinical experience as a MCH nurse with experience in implementation of strategic quality and safety improvement initiatives. The role will provide leadership and guidance for an MCH consumer partner group, in the development of a MCH research portfolio and in the provision and evaluation of value-based quality healthcare.Political acumen and strong stakeholder management is required to build constructive relationships with senior stakeholders and leaders across departments including DH, Department of Education (DE) and Department of Families Fairness and Housing (DFFH), government, the MCH sector and community. Key MCH stakeholders include the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV), local government, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) and relevant Universities.Are you:
- A senior, experienced Maternal and Child Health Nurse and leader, with strong political acumen?
- Passionate about improving the quality and safety of healthcare?
- Collaborative, enthusiastic, visionary with excellent interpersonal skills?
- Comfortable with change and change management?
- Comprehensive understanding of the Australian health system and the Victorian health system.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse and Midwife with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and hold an accredited postgraduate degree/diploma (or equivalent) in Maternal and Child Health nursing.
- Experience in improvement science or quality improvement.
