The Strategic Communication Branch drives innovative proactive communication strategies for the department and provides a strategic service to strengthen internal and external communications. The Strategic Communication Branch is part of the Strategy, Advisory and Insights Group. The branch takes a strategic, whole-of department view of media and communication, managing the department's reputation and providing context and consistency to all communication messaging.
The branch focuses on a few key areas: strategic communication and insights; media; online, social media and digital strategy; marketing and creative; internal communication.
This is your opportunity to:
- Support the Media Manager in leading the team to deliver strategic media outcomes, including the provision of media advice.
- Lead, develop and execute media strategies to ensure the department's key strategic priorities are communicated to audiences through a variety of traditional media channels, collaborating with experts in other communications fields to amplify the message.
- Identify, plan and produce proactive opportunities to promote the work of the department through traditional media coverage.
- Produce a range of high-quality media materials including responses to enquiries, releases, talking points, speeches and news articles.
- Liaise with, and build relationships with, ministerial advisors, senior executives, external organisations and media outlets for proactive and reactive media.
- Analysing media outcomes, using data to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
- Training and supporting spokespeople.
- Utilising creativity and awareness of the latest technologies, techniques and networks to deliver innovative and improved media services and strategies.
- Undertaking media reporting and monitoring tasks.
- Actively engage in a team environment and positive culture, by demonstrating our core values, celebrating success, and committing to continued learning and development.
