The Associate Technical Officer (Music and Radio) provides support to the School of Creative Arts, primarily into the Music and Radio Programs. You will be responsible for the delivery of technical support for classes, project work, supporting infrastructure and performances/events, and be the technical lead in audio in production events and functions as required.

Who you are:

You will be able to provide support relating to music performance and audio equipment technical support as well as have experience in planning and coordination of events and productions. Additionally, you will have:

  • Prior experience in audio production or live performance, and an awareness of backline equipment.
  • Experience in broadcast, radio or other programmed media playback environments would be advantageous.
  • Effective client service and administrative skills, and be able to set appropriate goals, prioritise work, follow through on tasks, report progress, and achieve results.
  • Experience in a higher education or teaching environment will be well-regarded.

What you'll do:

  • The role provides general technical support, advice and customer service to academic staff and students that utilise the facilities. You will be required to act as a point of contact for academic staff for technical service enquiries and requirements within the disciplines.
  • This role provides collegial relationships and networks with internal and external partners to support UniSQ School of Creative Arts academics who will program events. You will liaise with partners and internal teams (e.g. Marketing) to facilitate student outcome events.
  • This role supports and fosters a culture of workplace health and safety awareness to ensure all staff, students and visitors remain compliant with university policies, procedures, and legislation. You may be required to coordinate and/or conduct training in the operation of relevant equipment.

What will help you succeed:

The ideal person for this position will possess the following:

  • a Diploma or higher-level qualification in a relevant Creative Arts discipline, or combination of relevant qualifications and experience as a Music/Audio Technician, Production assistant or similar.
  • A good knowledge of musical instruments and audio technologies is essential.
  • An understanding of the arts industry or the higher education sector and universities in general, and a knowledge of the technical support and facilities that support the delivery of relevant academic programs.
  • Knowledge of Industry standard practices for audio visual and staging requirements.
  • An understanding of WH & S principles, regulations and risk assessments.
  • A willingness to travel to other campuses as required.

Term: Continuing, fractional appointment (0.7FTE, 25.2 hours per week)

Salary: Total remuneration range of $57,237 to $60,802 pa (including salary of $48,363 to $51,375 pa + 17% superannuation + annual leave loading)
