The Principal plays a vital role in delivering the Northern Territory Department of Education strategic plan and is the leading educational professional at Pine Creek School, who inspires students, staff and community members to optimise the learning of all students. You’ll have full autonomy to manage school operations, including organisational and human resource management demands and you’ll be joining a committed team with strong links to the local community.
Our school is the oldest operating school in the Northern Territory, located 220km south of Darwin at the junction of the Stuart Highway and Kakadu Highway in the Big Rivers region. Our team provides education to approximately 23 students across Preschool to Year 6 and over 70% of the student population is Indigenous and speak English as an additional language or dialect. The school has a shared reading, guided reading and guided writing approach and implements the numeracy program Learn Through Doing.

Accessible by road all year round, Pine Creek community services a population of 500 including the nearby Indigenous community of Kybrook Farm. Pine Creek is close to the turnoff to the Kakadu National Park, makes it uniquely placed as the perfect spot to get a remote experience while maintaining access to all of the resources a larger town centre provides. Pine Creek is steeped in history and is quite festive with many events taking place all year round. It’s the midway point between Darwin and Katherine, which gives you many opportunities to discover the Northern Territory.
