About the opportunity
There are currently two (2) permanent – full time positions available for immediate filling.
DPIRD is seeking to establish a pool of suitably experienced Principal Policy Officers to join our Strategy and Coordination team within the Office of the Director General. The Strategy and Coordination team provides support to the Ministers, Director General and DPIRD’s Corporate Executives to:
- Champion and drive the Department’s strategic outcomes.
- Strengthen the voice of WA primary industries and regions.
- Coordinate relationships with central government(s) to effectively monitor trends and represent the department’s best interests.
As a Principal Policy Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing policies that align with DPIRD’s goals and strategic objectives. You will assist in identifying and addressing priority issues and will be involved in developing and delivering recommendations that inform policy advice to the Department and Ministers. You will work closely with managers across the department and relevant external stakeholders to implement strategic initiatives.
We are looking for individuals with:
- Significant experience in preparing reports, briefs and correspondence to inform or respond to agency and government requests.
- Highly developed analytical skills and experience in applying these skills to deliver evidence-based advice to decision makers.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement strategic solutions.
- Highly developed organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks to successfully meet timeframes.
