This phase of work is a major step up in their Infrastructure Investment Program, as by 2050 Sydney Water will service nearly 2 million additional customers in the Sydney Region. In order to facilitate this growth, Sydney Water will invest $34 billion over the next 10 years to renew existing assets, deliver new investments in water supply, recycled water, stormwater and waterway management, and renewable sources of energy, while ensuring system resilience to shocks and stressors.
To deliver this significant increase to investment, Sydney Water are looking to appoint infrastructure professionals who believe in the crucial work being carried out that is underpinning society and protecting the environment.
The purpose of the Principal Project Managers are to successfully manage the delivery of predominantly medium to high risk/complexity projects to plan, within the Regional Annual Integrated Works Program focusing on the Critical Sewers. The Program includes capital works, maintenance and facilities management services, tactical renewal and minor works projects.
The position leads collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams in Sydney Water and the Regional Delivery Consortium and other delivery partners to manage and resolve complex issues and risks to project delivery. The position is accountable to drive collaboration between Sydney Water and the Regional
Delivery Consortium and other delivery partners, to manage risk proactively
and to ensure integrated whole-life delivery.
The position is accountable to ensure consistency, accuracy and efficiency in
project delivery, cost and risk management across all assigned projects within
and across asset classes. The position contributes to the development of the
Annual Integrated Works Program, and continuously challenges and identifies
ways to improve the delivery of projects.
Education/Qualifications/Licenses:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant or related field or experience deemed equivalent
- Proven project management experience, delivering large and multi-faceted projects, is essential
- Significant years of industry experience, including in:
o Working within and leading large, multi-disciplinary integrated teams and/or alliances
o Design and construction project delivery within the infrastructure/utilities sectors
o NEC4 contract management and administration
o Managing complex stakeholders
o Leading positive business change
o Program management and/or regional delivery of multiple investment programs
o Delivery via a range of contracting models
- Demonstrates honest and open interactions with others, and an ethical approach to work.
- Communicates with impact to drive team performance and influence stakeholders, building strong and wide networks.
- Generates enthusiasm for change and being comfortable to take risks where required.
