Job description

As a part of Operational Research, you will lead, manage and develop high quality statistical research aimed at the disruption of youth offending. You will use previous research to inform dataset development, complex statistical analyses, and predictive modelling, as well as provide evidence-driven findings to support the Youth Crime Taskforce and Taskforce Guardian in their duties. Experience in R, SAS, and/or SQL is highly desirable. The findings and outcomes of your work will enable evidencebased policing responses targeted at youth offending in Queensland.

The core capability requirements for this role are:

• Deliver statistical and analytical advice on behalf of Operational Research to senior members of the Crime and Intelligence Command to inform problem identification and context and communicate potential solutions to problems places, cases and crime types.
• Lead and manage the development and delivery of statistical management programs, methodology and systems to build intelligence capability across the Intelligence Capability.
• Develop and implement innovative solutions and promote continuous improvement including through the review of practices, procedures and standards to enhance the accurate management, dissemination and reporting of statistical data.
• Undertake highly complex, independent statistical and technical analysis and provide authoritative advice to influence, inform and support decision making and the development of intelligence documents.
• Identify, collect and monitor data that detects underlying trends in youth crime.
• Engage and build productive relationships to create understanding and capability within the Intelligence Directorate and inform key partners regarding statistical data.
• Represent the Assistant Commissioner, Crime and Intelligence Command and the Intelligence Directorate at forums to provide high quality, authoritative advice on statistical issues.

Role Requirements:

Qualification:

• While there are no mandatory requirements for this role, possession of relevant academic qualifications and/or experience would be highly regarded.

Other:

• The successful applicant/s may be required to perform duty within any Crime and Intelligence Command Group/Unit within the Brisbane Metropolitan area.
• The successful applicant/s will be required to undergo psychometric assessment, prior to appointment.
• Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
• Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) security clearance (see additional information) Shift work may be a requirement of the role (award penalties apply).
