The City of Launceston, an award winning Employer of Choice, is currently seeking to fill the following position:Position Title: Principal Town PlannerPosition Number: POS1792We're looking for an experienced Principal Town Planner who'd like to have a meaningful impact on the urban design of our beautiful, vibrant and diverse city of more than 70,000 residents.If you would like to join our collaborative City Development Team in this newly created, permanent, full-time, senior role working a 19-day month, we want to hear from you!This rewarding role: provides high level professional planning advice and project management to lead and support the delivery of strategic planning projects; works across both the statutory and strategic planning functions to provide high quality assessments of complex planning applications for amendments to the Planning Scheme and development applications; anddevelops and maintains local policy and the Planning Scheme, collaborates across the organisation on strategic planning, mentors planners and contributes to the continuous improvement of systems and practices.We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:A relevant tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent discipline.Extensive relevant experience in strategic and statutory planning.Current 'C' class drivers licence.Proven experience in leading the delivery of strategic planning projects and supporting project teams (including external consultants) to achieve strategic outcomes for the City of Launceston.Proven experience in coordination and collaboration between land use planning, infrastructure provision, community needs, economic and environmental sustainability and translating concepts into strategies and plans that are capable of being implemented.Proven experience in managing and assessing complex statutory planning applications.Highly developed report writing skills and the ability to prepare and facilitate presentations with advanced communication skills.Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and agencies to ensure effective project delivery, coordination and support.What's in it for you?
