Principal Ventilation Engineer

Metals Acquisition Group, Corporate is currently searching for a Principal Ventilation Engineer to join its team. 

Reporting to the Group Manager of Technical Services, you will ensure the mine sites have sufficient ventilation to meet its development production targets with safe operating conditions.

You will be a driving force in creating strategic ventilation system designs that is able to minimise running costs.

Furthermore, you will be tasked with monitoring all active work sites and relevant direct reports, to ensure they are supported in a production, project, mentoring and coaching fashion.

About the Role:

• Ensure a controlled steady supply of fresh and clean air for all miners on all sites to work in through collaboration with site personnel.
• Lead the group and mine site ventilation performance analysis and ventilation design projects.
• Analyse and provide recommendations on mine ventilation issues to mine operations.
• Problem solve and troubleshoot issues with ventilation systems.
• Ensure all sets of ventilation plans and sections of each mine are kept up to date with information detailing direction, course and quantity of air currents in the mine and that they are stored in a manner that can be made available to an Inspector or Mine Safety Officer upon request.
• Assist mine sites with the annual, and at the General Managers request, a whole of mine Q survey is completed and direction, course and quantity of air currents in the mine are recorded on the Ventsim model, plans and sections of the mine.
• Provide accurate LOA and Budget plans in a timely manner to support the other group principal personnel involved in the mine schedules.

Qualifications & Knowledge Required:

• Current Australian Manual Drivers Licence.
• Degree in Mining Engineering.
• RIIRIS301D - Apply Risk Management Processes.
• Ventilation Ticket.
• Expert user of Ventsim.
• Understanding of State or Country standards, codes and regulations related to ventilation and ensure all Mine Plans comply with relevant State or country legislation.

About you:

You will possess 10 years post qualification experience in Mine Ventilation in a hard rock mine. You will also hold strategic ventilation project experience.

You will mitigate risks and display your excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in system design and implementation.

Conditions: 

This is currently a work from home position until such time that the corporate office has been established.

Periodic site visits are required for this role and determined by either site support requirements or as directed by your manager.

The current operating mine site is located an eight-hour drive from Sydney, nine-hour drive from Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive from Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions.
