The opportunity
The Process and Automation Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the sites Process and Automation systems which include but not limited to PLC’s, HMI’s, SCADA and VSD’s. The role is also responsible for providing high level technical support and Electrical/Process knowledge to the maintenance team when and where required and may include design, implementation or training in such systems.
Main duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the programming of all PLC’s on-site including access control and revision.
- Is responsible for overall quality-of-design for automation and process control systems.
- Feasibility studies, estimating, risk management including critical spares and end of life equipment.
- Coaching and mentoring of team members to ensure a cycle of continual improvement throughout site systems.
- Design of electrical and automated control systems including HMI and SCADA systems.
- Calibration of sensors and instruments.
- Selects the appropriate technology for use onsite (PLC, HMI, Drive Instruments, Sensors, Valves, Actuator’s.
- Programming of PLCs and user interfaces.
- Manages instrumentation and Automation-related activities.
- Design of electrical control systems in industrial facilities. Plant systems included low to medium voltage power system, cable and raceway design, motor control and switchgear equipment.
- Review and prepare detailed specifications and contract documents for procurement of major electrical controls equipment as well as construction document packages.
What we’re looking for
Swickers has established an efficient, highly skilled yet diversified team. As a key member you will have:
- Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related discipline or current QLD electrical licence with 10 + years’ experience in programming.
- Proven programming experience using Allen Bradley systems including Drives, HMI, PLC and SCADA.
- Proven track record illustrating successful leadership of cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record of successful completion and ownership of design projects valued above $250K
- Practical, applied engineering design experience relating to industrial equipment including machine design, mechanical, fluid power, electrical and Automation or mechatronics disciplines.
- Technical writing skills for developing construction work packages.
