About the role:
The DON plant in Castlemaine, completed in 2010, consolidates multiple plants across Australia into one 45,000 m2 facility with diverse manufacturing processes. This senior technical role focuses on identifying and executing continuous improvement opportunities under the 'Renewal' program, involving product, process, and packaging optimizations, as well as implementing new technologies.
The DON Technical team allocates resources as follows:
- New Product/Packaging Development (40%)
- Continuous Improvement (50%)
- Plant Support/Issue Resolution (10%)
This role primarily targets Continuous Improvement (CI) projects but may support other technical projects occasionally. Close collaboration with various functions, especially the CI team, is crucial. The role demands taking concepts from idea to execution, requiring strong project planning, facilitation, technical assessment, and stakeholder engagement skills. Projects may also include new software and systems to improve data management.
Based at the Castlemaine factory, the role requires at least four days on-site, with occasional visits to the Port Melbourne office. Depending on experience, the role may have direct reports and necessitates championing team values and behaviors. A relevant degree and food industry experience are essential, while meat processing knowledge is beneficial but not mandatory.
Responsibilities:
Project Management: Apply technical due diligence and manage projects from ideation to implementation.
Insights & Analysis: Identify and analyze opportunities in product, packaging, and processes, presenting them to key decision-makers.
Line Management: Manage and develop direct reports, exemplifying DON values.
Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, promoting a safety culture and managing workplace injuries in accordance with Company and legislative requirements.
