Summary
For over the last ten years, A & A Seafoods in Port Lincoln has been the pioneering the supply of high quality, fresh seafood produce throughout Australia. To support their ever increasing business operations, A & A Seafoods are now seeking to fill multiple positions of Seafood Processing Worker in their team. If you have at least 6 months experience in seafood processing, are proficient in cleaning, gutting, sorting, scaling, deboning, shucking and like the idea of learning more in a team environment, then this might be the job for you.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Receiving and Handling Raw Seafood:
• Inspecting and sorting incoming seafood to ensure it meets quality standards.
• Unloading shipments and transporting seafood to processing areas.
Processing Seafood:
• Cleaning and gutting fish and other seafood.
• Scaling, filleting, and deboning fish.
• Shucking shellfish such as oysters, clams, and mussels.
• Operating machinery for cutting, slicing, and portioning seafood.
Preparation and Cooking:
• Marinating, seasoning, and cooking seafood using methods like boiling, steaming, baking, and frying.
• Preparing seafood for freezing or canning.
Packaging and Labelling:
• Weighing and packaging seafood products.
• Sealing packages and containers.
• Labelling products with appropriate information including weight, date, and contents.
Quality Control:
• Inspecting finished products for defects and ensuring they meet company and regulatory standards.
• Reporting any quality issues to supervisors.
Sanitation and Safety:
• Cleaning and sanitising work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Adhering to health and safety regulations to prevent contamination and injury.
• Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Inventory Management:
• Recording quantities of seafood processed and packaged.
• Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages to management.
Team Collaboration:
• Working with other team members to ensure efficient and timely processing.
• Communicating with supervisors about production status and any issues encountered.
Compliance:
• Following company policies and procedures.
• Adhering to industry regulations and standards for seafood processing.
Additional Duties:
• May include maintenance of equipment, training new workers, and other tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
• At least 6 months of experience in seafood processing.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Strong team and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Australian Workplace Safety Standards.
• Not be afraid of hard work and further on the job training as required.
• Enthusiastic, motivated, punctual and contribute to a positive workplace
• Willingness to undergo Police and medical checks.
• Willingness to move, settle and work in a regional town for long term.
