About Finance and Procurement Services 

Finance and Procurement Services assist the University to achieve its goals by providing quality leadership, information, and financial services. The Finance and Procurement Services team develops and maintains financial policies and procedures and internal control to facilitate the conduct of university business and help ensure compliance with taxation and other financial legislative requirements. 

About the Role 

We have a unique opening within our Finance and Procurement team as the Procurement Analyst. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing procurement and business analyst support for the Procurement Services function to help further develop processes and strategies, including data analysis, projects and process improvement, with a focus on the emerging requirements relating to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) within Procurement and Finance. This impactful position reports to the Associate Director, Procurement Services, and will work closely with other Finance & Procurement Services staff, including the Procurement Category Managers, and the University’s Sustainability team.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position are:

  •  Providing a business analyst role with regards to procurement expenditure including:
  • Ongoing data analysis of University transactions, to support projects or general operations.
  • Gathering and preparing data for University ESG reporting requirements, including Modern Slavery reporting, Supply Nation and other the Reconciliation Action Plan reporting, Sustainability strategy and emissions reporting, and Annual Financial Statement reporting.
  • Extracting, reviewing, and analysing reports, investigating, and making recommendations on opportunities for procurement related improvements as required.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of improvements in Procure to Pay processes within the University’s ERP systems, including developing opportunities for improved awareness and visibility of ESG impacts and alternatives to University stakeholders.
  • Leading risk and value appropriate Procurement processes including development of acquisition strategies, conducting Requests for Proposals/Tenders/Quotations, lead evaluations and undertake negotiations for the University.
  • Liaising effectively with current and potential suppliers, Colleges, and Portfolios, ensuring clear communications and effective resolution of queries and issues.

About You 

To be successful in this role, you have extensive experience in core analytical skills with experience in developing, analysing, and interpreting reports and resolving issues. You possess excellent communication skills and can build effective relationships with various stakeholders.

You have a growth mindset, and eager to develop your skills. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline is desirable.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:

  • Well-developed data analytics skills, including the extraction, interpretation, evaluation, and analysis of data, using products including Excel and Power BI.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexities, impact, and opportunities of ESG initiatives in the Procurement function, including Sustainability, Indigenous Procurement, Social Enterprises and Modern Slavery (Anti-Slavery) for a large corporate organisation.
  • Well-developed procurement skills and capabilities, including an understanding of the requirements and processes for undertaking a Request for Tender/Proposal, including probity, development of specifications, and evaluations.
  • Understanding of, and experience with, organisation-wide Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and finance systems.
  • Evidence of well-developed organisational skills including the ability to determine priorities consistent with changing demands.
