About us

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. Our goal is to improve the experience Victorians have when they do business and interact with government.

The Government Procurement Group

The group provides:
Whole of government procurement solutions to achieve best value for the Victorian Government
Whole of government policy development and implementation of the State's Intellectual Property requirements
Procurement policy leadership supporting the Victorian Government Purchasing Board; and
Management of the Standard Motor Vehicle Policy, VicFleet operations and the finance lease facility for government departments and agencies
DTF corporate procurement operations and support

About the role

This is an exciting role that will play a key role in supporting the Government Procurement Group as a lead agency responsible for delivering the Victorian Government Purchasing Board (VGPB) policies for the procurement of goods and services. Key activities will include contributing to procurement policy development and reviews, contributing to the VGPB Governance Team's compliance program, and supporting procurement capability development activities.

Prepare and provide policy advice, guidance and support to government and the Victorian Government Purchasing Board (VGPB)
Undertake research and analysis on procurement policy issues, using evidence of data to develop recommendations
Provide support/advice and respond to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders such as government buyers and suppliers
Participate in strategic planning and decision making and identify and respond to new and emerging strategic issues impacting on the operating environment
Maintain cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, constructively working to resolve issues or escalate where required
Support a diverse range of policy and procurement projects
Proactively contribute to the development and achievement of team goals and plans and support other team members in achieving their objectives

About you

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with an ability to clearly articulate outcomes, listen to customers / clients / stakeholders and address their requirements within agreed time frames.
Ability to prepare presentations, briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and to constructively support the delivery of team and organisation-wide outputs.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to utilise systems and tools to contribute to decision making to support excellent outcomes.
Experience with and knowledge of policy development, standards and guidelines with demonstrated experience in developing and documenting new processes and supporting materials.
Demonstrated experience in effectively planning and managing competing priorities and projects, with a willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations.
Ability to think outside the square, a willingness to try new things and a genuine desire to learn, share knowledge and make a difference

Additional information
