The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
We have an opportunity for an individual to join us as Senior Procurement Policy Officer on an ongoing basis. This is an exciting role that will play a key role in supporting the Government Procurement Group as a lead agency responsible for delivering the Victorian Government Purchasing Board (VGPB) policies for the procurement of goods and services.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Undertake policy reviews and develop recommendations for a range of strategic Procurement Policy development and implementation activities.
- Advise and work with the VGPB, senior management and stakeholders across government in relation to complex and challenging Procurement Policy issues, providing robust options/solutions and advice for consideration and evaluation.
- Source, identify, research and analyse, key policy, strategy and emerging trends, as well as leading practices in procurement occurring across jurisdictions nationally and internationally, with particular focus on public sector procurement.

About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Highly developed problem-solving, analytical, research, evaluation and policy development skills. This includes analysis of issues from different perspectives and drawing sound inferences from information available.
- Ability to articulate and understand emerging issues; formulate and communicate public policy options and recommendations; and articulate potential implications of proposed policy/project options.
- Ability to draft accurate and succinct reports, briefings and submissions, identifying key issues and providingwell researched options.
