About the Role:

We are searching for a passionate and experienced Product Buyer to join our growing team! You will play a pivotal role in sourcing, developing, and managing a dynamic product portfolio across the Toys, Hobbies & Babies, and Art & Craft categories for the Australian market (we have a number of positions open across these categories, assignment to a specific category will be based on prior experience). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify trends, negotiate competitive pricing, and ensure our online store offers a compelling selection for our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a strategic buying plan for assigned categories, aligned with market trends, customer demand, and business objectives.
• Source high-quality products from a diverse range of suppliers, including both local Australian vendors and international sources.
• Manage the entire buying process, from negotiation and contract finalisation to order placement and delivery.
• Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends and ensure product competitiveness.
• Analyse sales data and customer feedback to optimise product selection, pricing, and promotions.
• Research product trends and competitive landscape to improve sales including identifying and determining key trends. Manage promotions and markdown administration.
• Develop a compelling product and brand offer that differentiates us from the competition.
• Manage marketing calendar including competitor review and analysis
• Manage the flow & ordering of samples for quality control.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality, on-time delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
• Work with product development team to identify opportunities for Private Label
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and consumer buying habits.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in product buying for a retail or wholesale environment.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Proven experience in sourcing and managing products in relevant categor(ies), with a strong focus on (any of) babies, toys, hobbies and art & craft.
• Experience negotiating competitive pricing and terms with local and international suppliers.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends, to inform buying decisions and optimise product selection
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Experience with Shopify and inventory management systems (eg Inventory Planner) is a plus.
• Experience with multi-category/multi-channel environment highly desirable
• Positive attitude with a passion to succeed.
• Effective time management skills with proven ability to prioritise.
