Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Strategic Purchasing Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analysing sales and inventory data, managing vendor relationships, and determining ordering requirements. Proficiency in Excel and data analysis is essential for this role. Additionally, the role includes competitive analysis and sales performance review to inform strategic pricing and purchasing decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse sales and inventory data to forecast purchasing needs.
- Review vendor information, including lead times, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and sourcing options (overseas vs local).
- Generate and analyse reports to determine ordering requirements.
- Use advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis tools) to manage and interpret data.
- Conduct competitive analysis to identify market trends and opportunities.
- Perform sales performance analysis and reviews to support strategic pricing and purchasing decisions.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring optimal stock levels.
- Collaborate with vendors to negotiate terms and manage purchase orders.
- Monitor and manage stock levels to avoid overstocking or stockouts.
- Support the Management Team in daily administrative tasks and projects.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Assistant or in a similar analytical role.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of inventory management and purchasing processes.
- Experience in the woodworking or retail industry is a plus.
