The Role

Your role as a Product Designer will see you working within one of the most successful retail organisations in the country, building an understanding of the business of retail and turning this understanding into online experiences that deliver the best of JB Hi Fi online for our customers.

You’ll hypothesise, prototype, test and execute solutions to real customer and business problems. You should relish the chance to promote, explore, and realise new and unexpected ideas within the retail sector through human centred design practice.  

Your focus will primarily be within the online space, working with subject matter experts and other agile squad members as we strive to deliver a market leading online experience which aligns to our brand values. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with a cross functional team of Product Owners, Business Analysts, Engineers and other experts across the business to Deliver world-class products and features for our customers
• Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research to validate hypotheses, uncover user pains, needs and motivations 
• Design and facilitate workshops for alignment, ideation and iteration, for small and large groups, remotely and in person  
• Create simple, innovative and intuitive solutions to complex scenarios 
• Produce sketches, flowcharts, wireframes and prototypes for testing, validation and to support robust discussions with your team to create alignment.
• Design and conduct moderated and unmoderated usability testing.
• Leverage our design system to create high fidelity designs, facilitate walkthroughs with developers and support all the way through delivery   
• Embed a Design Thinking approach in the team’s ways of working through coaching and demonstrating a Design Thinking skillset, toolset and mindset at every stage of the process.  

Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years experience in UX/UI/ Product Design
• Solid portfolio of work
• Strong working knowledge of design thinking & human-centered design principles
• An understanding of customer advocacy and experience measurement techniques
• Strong facilitation techniques 
• Strong prototyping skills
• Strong user interface and responsive design skills
• Confidence in planning, designing and facilitating remote, in-person moderated and guerrilla user testing
• Solid communication skills in a fast-paced environment
• Growth mindset and ability to deal with ambiguity
