Product Engineer

The Product Engineer will form an integral part of the Quality & Product Engineering function, working collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve continuous improvement in the quality and performance of our consumer products.
  
With a proven understanding of FMEA & RCA methods and comfort with supplier management, the Product Engineer will take a proactive approach in reviewing current systems, testing procedures, consumer data and sustainability requirements, making recommendations and implementing changes to drive the delivery of our strategic plan for growth.
  
  
The role

• Perform as the technical liaison between Product Management, Supplier Quality Engineering, global manufacturing facilities and 3rd party suppliers to communicate requirements, validate specifications, test performance and ultimately insure effective commercialisation of product enhancements and new product development
• Influence stakeholders in decisions related to cost/benefit analysis, safety, production quality, performance, reliability, and general commercialisation viability
• Support the Customer Care team with resolving Product Engineering enquiries
• Lead the development and execution of sustainable packaging action plans to facilitate the achievement of commitments by 2025
• Contribute to the internal audit requirements and continuous improvement opportunities identified through the ISO9001 accreditation process
• Pursue lean and value engineering initiatives towards positive outcomes for the business, customers, and consumers
• Create product specifications and support development of product instructions with foremost consideration for consumer safety and user experience
• Maintain product specification and traceability database to enable reduction in supplier Non-Conformance and Cost of Poor Quality
• Coordinate and contribute to the global Engineering Change process including supplier and internal change impact & risk assessments
• Utilise FMEA and RCA methods to evaluate products and determine the need for change or immediate action
• Identify, specify, and coordinate industry required testing methods and regulations
• Maintain knowledge of standards, regulations/laws, issues, and news with respect to industry and products

  
Skill and qualifications required:

• Degree qualified or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including effective negotiation skills.
• High degree of numeracy and analysis
• Understanding of risk assessments and change management methods to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders
• Lean Six Sigma certification or proven application of methods of continuous improvement
