As an APS6 Product Manager within the Munitions Industrial Base, you will be working on some of the most exciting and complex guided weapons and explosive ordnance manufacturing capabilities for the Australian Defence Force. You will be part of a high performing team directly accountable for the delivery of priority capabilities for the GWEO Group.
You will be required, but not limited to:
- Support the Deputy Director to deliver capability outcomes,
- Contribute to the management of program level risks (including WHS), schedules, performance and budgets,
- Liaise with various Delivery Agencies and Services across the Defence Enterprise,
- Support governance and reporting requirements for the Division and Group,
- Provide assistance to manage, monitor, assess and report on performance and other reporting and audit requirements, and
- Support the broader team as required.
You will spend your days;
- Investigating, analysing and reporting on concepts and risks;
- Planning and delivering critical activities;
- Providing advice to stakeholders; and
- Mentoring junior members.
There may be some domestic business travel associated with this position.
About our Team
Munitions Industrial Base (MIB) is an integral part of Industrial Delivery Branch (IDB), which is part of the new Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance Delivery Division (GWEODD). Our team consists of various disciplines (including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services). We are located in Canberra, Penrith, Amberley, Benalla, Mulwala, Melbourne and Stirling, and our focus is to collaborate with domestic and international industry to deliver acquisition and sustainment of Australia’s explosive ordnance manufacturing capability including:
- Delivery of new GWEO manufacturing projects;
- Establish the central management of the GWEO Test and Evaluation equipment fleet; and
- The management and upgrade of munitions and explosives manufacturing factories at Mulwala (NSW) and Benalla (VIC).
The GWEO DD comprises of approximately 560 dedicated employees performing requirements setting; contracting; procurement; international logistics; domestic manufacturing; item management and maintenance, and co-ordination of disposal activities. GWEO-IDB partners with domestic and international industry to deliver manufacturing capabilities to Defence, managing a multi-billion dollar portfolio of complex, high-profile acquisitions and sustainment activities to support the ADF.
