This role is a fixed-term contract for a period of 12 months.Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the Head of Design, Creative Director and Head of Graphics & Art Direction, lead the design direction and development of the range for the department categories
- In conjunction with Head of Design & Product Ladieswear and the planning team, conduct seasonal reviews of business & set financial targets for the coming season
- Effectively communicate design direction to key business stakeholders, working to create an awareness and alignment to department outcomes and objectives
- Understand brand target market and design commercial product consistent with monthly/seasonal themes/direction and create cohesive and commercial family stories
- Manage the product development process and ensure timely product category execution in store
- Analyse financial performance of the business and identify key opportunities for growth in sales, initial margin and increased stock turn
- Participate in sample buying trips as required
- Build and maintain strong, effective and collaborative relationships across the Peter Alexander team
- Manage existing supplier base performance and negotiate costs to achieve overall initial margin budgets
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of 4 direct reports
- Retail Apparel Product Management/Product Development/Buying experience
- Knowledge and experience of Adobe Illustrator essential
- Experience managing high volume within a fast-paced department
- Have an in-depth knowledge of production techniques demonstrating a strong understanding of garment construction and fit specifications
- Experience in managing supplier relationships and negotiations (experience with overseas suppliers critical)
- Effective leadership and team management skills and proven stakeholder management ability
