The Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for an exceptional candidate as Product Manager in the Research and Education Services (RES) team. Working closely with the Associate Director, Academic and Data Product Management, the role involves understanding the business and technology landscape, setting the product vision/roadmap and prioritising work for the technical team in order to ensure delivery of the most valuable product functionality. Critical to success of the role is the ability to develop/maintain strong business relationships along with leading and inspiring cross-functional teams in understanding the requirements and managing timely completion of release phases to ensure the achievement of strategic product goals and realisation of business value at each stage. You will be providing expert advice and championing the adoption of best practice, policies and standards in relation to product management at RES across the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Portfolio.
Research and Education Services (RES) manages the provision of world class innovative solutions that have transformed core functions of the University including the delivery of education, assessment and research administration. This multi-award winning team has an exceptional track record of innovative solutions which has transformed the university experience for our students, and academics. The RES Product Manager will be responsible for formulating the product vision, and supporting the planning and delivery of digital solutions and related enhancements to enterprise-wide systems supporting the University's core technology related to Research Administration, Timetabling and Curriculum Management.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in managing the product lifecycle from idea conception to product launch, coupled with an ability to understand business priorities and user needs in a challenging environment
- An excellent understanding of systems and processes supporting core university functions of Research Administration, Timetabling and/or Curriculum Management
- Extensive experience in coaching, developing and motivating a team of technical and professional staff in line with the product's roadmaps
- Outstanding relationship management and consulting skills, including the ability to interact with, influence and negotiate with business and technology stakeholders within and outside the University
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills including demonstrated ability to conceptualise, develop and translate complex business issues into innovative, workable solutions
- Qualifications in computer science or software engineering or another relevant discipline, ITIL Foundation certification and extensive relevant experience
