Product Technologist Assistant - Food Industry

A position has now become available for a Product Technologist Assistant to join our growing organisation for an ongoing assignment, 5 days per week (Mon - Fri). Our products contain allergens and are not vegan - so that applicants are aware of the type of products to be tasted.
The Position
- Product Technologist Assistant
The Role
- Support the Product Technologist with the execution of product development projects.
- Benchtop sample preparation according to development or improvement formulations.
- Using Food works Nutrition Labelling Software, compile ingredient declarations and nutrition information panels for sample submissions in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Conduct trials for product improvement, assessment of new or replacement ingredients and shelf-life extensions.
- Participate in sensory assessments of products and ingredients.
- Participate in preparing for and execution of production trials.
- Prepare scaled up production formulations and instructions for final review and approval.
- Follow personal hygiene standards and maintain expected housekeeping and cleaning standards within the development kitchen to meet Hitex Confectionery SQF Food Safety & Quality Program requirements.
- Perform ad hoc duties as instructed by your manager, this may include activities in, but not limited to; assisting the QA Coordinator in QA functions.
- Maintain accurate documentation relevant to tasks undertaken and associated with the Hitex Confectionery SQF Food Safety & Quality Program.
- Report on all Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory non-conformances to Technical Manager / QA Coordinator.
- Correct chemical use in line with task and OH&S requirements.
- Maintain a safe workspace and carry out all duties within OH&S guidelines.
Key Skills
- Degree in Food Science & Technology or related discipline. We are open to a Graduate with recent placement experience.
- Knowledge of Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) with technical ability to interpret food regulations.
- Technical knowledge of a range of ingredients, manufacturing processes and quality and food safety systems involved in food production (Ex: HACCP, SQF or similar).
- Experience using Food works Nutrition Labelling Software.
- Competent skills in Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written & verbal.
- Ability to take directions and meet deadlines.
- Pro-active and self-motivated with ability to plan and task manage numerous projects simultaneously.
Candidates must have their own transportation as this role requires travel between two sites.
