OVERVIEW:
The Afternoon Shift Manager plans, organises, co-ordinates and directs the production crew. This role also liaises with estimating, planning, procurement, maintenance, logistics and admin on work priorities on a day to day basis.
Managing, supervising, delegating and mentoring staff are key requirements of this position. This role is pivotal in assisting in the strategy and action plans aimed at improving the performance, quality and effectiveness of the business.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Guide and develop the people within your team.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure customer expectations are met, including quality, safety, dispatch dates, maintenance, training, specific packaging, and documentation requirements.
- Plan and action daily activities in a timely manner to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Ensure work is conducted in accordance with compliant workplace health, safety, environment and quality procedures and practices.
Essential Skills & Experience
- A Proactive, can do mentality. Problem solving skills with the ability to think creatively to seek alternative solutions and exercise judgment where appropriate.
- Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills with solid written skills.
- Ability to read drawings and estimate work content in steel processing and fabrication work.
- A commitment to teamwork and collaboration in meeting business objectives.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up.
- Computer literate with solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Operating AUTOCAD along with running and programming CNC equipment would be an advantage.
- Boilermaker / Welder qualification would be an advantage.
- Forklift licence would be an advantage.
- Rigger's licence would be an advantage.
- First Aid qualification would be an advantage.
