About the OPPORTUNITY

We have a new opportunity for a Production Planner Lead to join our Destroyer Capability Enhancement Program based at SA-Osborne Naval Shipyard, reporting to the Production Planning Manager.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

As part of the Destroyer Capability Enhancement Program of the Hobart Class Destroyer Guided Missile DDGs, you will be responsible for leading a team to develop and maintain production schedules and all related job cards, material planning and reporting within the scope of the Production Planning team to manage the upgrade and maintenance of ships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the team in the creation of a detailed Production Schedule Work Order and Job Card activities
  • Supervise, coach and educate planners and maintain a focus on the customer needs coupled with a desire to remove non value added activities
  • Monitor progress, analyse and report on the production schedule to both internal and external customers
  • Review the teams alignment between production and project budgets and schedules
  • Assist in the Performance Development Reviews of employees
  • Ensure team members are compliant with the Safety Health and Environment management system

About YOU

  • Trade or degree level qualification in an engineering discipline
  • Extensive experience in effective use of planning process, tools and infrastructure
  • Ability to train and mentor planners through superior team building skills
  • Experience in liaison with the customers and sub-contractors on technical and schedule issues
  • Knowledge and experience in Windchill and Aveva packages
  • Demonstrated superior communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers at all levels
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
