What Is The Role?
We have an exciting opportunity for Production Shift Managers to join our Snackfoods team at our state-of-the-art facility in Dandenong Southmanufacturing Cobs Popcorn and Poppin Microwave Popcorn.
Reporting to the Manufacturing manager, this position is critical to our leadership team and will be responsible for fostering and enhancing a high performance culture in our production team.
In this role, you will proactively seek out opportunities to improve the business, drive engagement with operators in your team, take accountability for your KPIs and targets, strive to deliver the best practices, and embrace new ideas, approaches and opportunities as the business evolves and grows.
This is a full time, permanent role with afternoon shift (2:00 pm - 10:30pm) and night shift hours(10:00 pm - 6:30 am) available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day performance of all lines and accountable for hitting daily targets/KPIs as set by manufacturing/Operations
- Manage workforce planning, workload, and performance of the team; including communication and ensuring a consistent approach in coaching team members to follow policies, procedures and uphold standards in their daily activities.
- Motivate and manage production operators including conducting effective shift handovers, toolbox talks, driving engagement, managing discplinary issues, development & training, ER/IR climate, absenteeism etc.
- Set performance plans, goals and targets for team members and conduct regular 1-1s with team members on their performance, adherence to KPIs/targets, safety and quality standards
- Responsible for execution and adherence of the production plan, including supplying product to the warehouse and stock reconciliation and checking and confirm production hourly output
- Managing, planning, and forecasting shift labour requirements, while ensuring labour and overtime costs are within budget constraints
- Ensure that the production processes are controlled so that all standards are maintained eg: quality and food safety, overtime etc, and to contribute to their ongoing improvement through SDCA (Standardise, Do, Check, Act).
- Ensure the effective roll-out and ongoing management of Operational Excellence projects

- A strong safety first mindset
- Excellent people management experience with a proven ability to effectively lead, engage and coach production teams
- 3+ years' experience in a shift manager/supervisory/team leader role in an FMCG Manufacturing environment, preferably within the food industry
- Intimate knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, relevant regulations, health and safety requirements, auditing requirements and relevant legislation
- Well-honed manufacturing process knowledge and stakeholder management, including partnering, influencing, facilitation and communication skills
- Additional training in Continuous Improvement Systems (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma) would be advantageous
