PRODUTION HORTICULTURALIST

Eldridge Fresh Organics is a family owned business based around the Murray Bridge Area, specialising in growing organics vegetables all year round.

We are seeking a Production Horticulturalist to join our team.

$70,000 per year (exclusive of superannuation & non-monetary benefits)

Located at Sunny Side 5253

Full time position

Responsibilities – This hands-on position includes but is not limited to

• Ensure relevant equipment is maintained
• Select seeds according to local climatic conditions, soil properties, and potential yield
• Ensure robust plant vitality and effectively control disease
• Oversee irrigation and watering of plants
• Manage the cultivation and sowing process
• Carry out pruning of young and mature plants
• Prepare the planting substrates and appropriate trays
• Keep track of soil data and harvest records
• Analyse and understand soil samples and compost composition
• Offer guidance on selecting plant and seed types
• Oversee the mitigation of biosecurity threats
• Ensure an adequate supply of plant nutrients and fertilizers is always available
• Place orders for seeds, fertilizers and agricultural organic chemicals

Skills & Experience Required 

• Minimum certificate III in Horticulture
• Minimum 2 years knowledge of the Organic Vegetable industry
• A current forklift license and experience using a bin tipper attachment
• Attention to detail and passionate about organic produce
• Proactive and self motivated
• Competent in driving tractors & loaders
