As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service (RFS) and the State Emergency Service (SES), and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of the role
The Volunteer Emergency Services Training Command provides instructional design services for RFS and SES trainers, including identifying and developing curriculum content and training materials. Additionally, the command provides instructional design consultancy services to the other commands within the QFES.
Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for providing effective and efficient support to the Instructional Designers in the development and review of a range of flexible learning materials (print and e-Learning) and other multi-service products that meet the vocational education and training quality framework, including assisting with the design, delivery and assessment of accredited training programs. You will also provide advice and specialist support to regional staff and volunteer trainers concerning the format and delivery of training courses and programs.

The incumbent may also be requested to undertake and support operational duties during emergencies and disasters as required.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
Provide a high level administrative support and complement the activities of the Instructional Designers in the development of flexible learning and training materials.
Assist in the developing and implementation of a range of training curriculum and tools based on curriculum initiatives, contemporary practices and standards.
Contribute to the development, implementation and review of systems, policies and procedures that support the delivery of accredited programs in training and assessment.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consideration of issues and delivery of positive outcomes.
Assist in the preparation and coordination of reports, correspondence, briefings relevant to business objectives, in accordance with departmental requirements.
Contribute to the review and evaluation processes of programs within the QFES curriculum that make up learning and development frameworks.
Undertake research, analysis and provide advice for continuous improvement to support the development and adherence to quality systems.
