The Company
KPAT Contracting is an owner / developer / builder company that focuses on delivering refurbished or newly constructed contemporary hotels and pub properties within regional Queensland. With multiple pubs and 400 hotel rooms either in operation or under construction, we have a strong forward project book and are continually looking to expand our operations and geographical footprint.
KPAT Contracting is currently undertaking the construction of a 182 room, fully serviced hotel in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast which, once completed, will become part of the KPAT Hotels + Pubs group. The development consists of a 13-storey hotel, including multiple restaurants, a large conferencing and catering facility as well as ancillary operations in retail, and health and wellness. We will maintain the ownership of this asset upon completion and operate it within our hotel arm.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Finance Officer to undertake the day-to-day financial activities of our construction project. You will play a critical role in providing timely and up-to-date financial information to the Directors of the company whilst providing support to our project team.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Maintaining and reconciling accounts payable including processing invoices from suppliers for approval by managers and undertaking accounts payable payment runs.
- Maintenance of Retention and Project Trust Accounts and coordinating annual audit of these accounts.
- Reconciliation of staff credit cards.
- Communicating with suppliers in relation to account enquiries as required.
- Undertaking end-of-month closure procedures.
- Preparing monthly financial reports including balance sheet, profit and loss and various transactional reports for the project team and Director.
- Attending to statutory lodgements including monthly activity statements, payroll tax returns and taxable payments reporting.
- Liaising with the Finance & Administration team at head office when needed.
- Developing and updating processes and procedures when required.
- Providing support to Contracts Administrators when requested which may include assistance with budget reporting and project cost forecasts.
- Some administration duties as requested.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 5 years experience in accounting or in a similar role.
- Familiarity with using Xero and connected applications such as Lightyear would be advantageous.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in financial and statutory reporting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $110,000 + superannuation
