The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Project Development Manager - Power to join us in our Infrastructure Engineering team in Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth on a full-time permanent basis.

Reporting to the General Manager - Infrastructure Engineering, you will provide a key role in managing and executing development activities, within the Infrastructure Delivery mandate, for power generation projects, from pre-concept to final investment decision. Projects may encompass solar, wind, BESS, and/or gas fired power generation technologies delivered on an EPC / D&C or multi-contract basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop technically and commercially feasible solutions for both customer and internally generated projects
  • Compile accurate and timely strategic assessment of development challenges across all development aspects such as land, permitting, grid connections, project delivery schedules, procurement, resource assessment while identifying associated risks and opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain a streamlined workflow to ensure project teams (engineering, procurement, estimators, schedulers, access & approvals, etc.) meet crucial milestones, conducting meetings to sustain momentum.
  • Management of external consultants to facilitate Project Development.
  • Review all deliverables to ensure the development plan remains comprehensive, updated, and effectively maintained.
  • Oversee and coordinate internal infrastructure development workstreams, ensuring their efforts align with project objectives.
  • Work closely with BDMs and Infrastructure Delivery teams to manage relationships with customers, suppliers, and contractors.

Your background

  • Tertiary Qualification in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Project Management, Commerce)
  • Proven development experience in the power generation and renewable energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in leading and managing others.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with capability for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge and experience in measuring and evaluating the progress of projects in the development phase

About the Team

The Infrastructure Engineering - Power team forms part of the Infrastructure Delivery division in APA, responsible for development and delivery of growth power projects across Australia.

With a strong pipeline of power projects, both on-grid and off-grid, the recently established Infrastructure Engineering - Power team is experiencing rapid growth. We are actively seeking new talent to complement our existing cadre of multi-disciplinary engineers.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Australia's energy transition by supporting development and delivery of power generation projects, utilising wind, solar, battery and thermal technologies.
