Role: Project Development Officer

About Us

Enel Green Power entered the Australian market in 2017 as Enel Green Power Australia (EGPA), with the construction of one of Australia’s largest solar plants, Bungala Solar Farm located in South Australia. Our Australian operations now include three solar plants with a consolidated capacity of around 310 megawatts (MW) and 75MW wind farm and 90MW solar farm under construction.

Today, Enel Green Power Australia is a 50/50 joint venture between energy giants, Enel Group and INPEX. The company is targeting a significant increase to its installed capacity across wind, solar, storage and hybrid projects which is expected to accelerate EGPA’s growth in the local market and continue its commitment to driving Australia’s energy transition and achieving the country’s net zero target.
 

The Role

This role will be focused on the support of the development of new greenfield and brownfield projects following acquisition or inclusion in EGPA’s development pipeline, with predominant focus on BESS systems developments:  from land contracts negotiation and management, through project feasibility analysis (technical and financial) and management of permitting and connection process, supported by EGPA in-house subject matter specialists or external consultants.

This role will be key to complement the Business Development activities while assisting a team across the full cycle of Project Development activities from greenfield through to fully approved and ready to build projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist/manage in all relevant Project Development activities to achieve development and grid connection approval until financial close of the project.
  • Assist/manage in the preparation of Project Development schedules and budgets.
  • Assist/manage in the preparation of all relevant inputs needed for project evaluations.
  • Assist/manage in running project meetings with the allocated project team across different business units and determine action items and responsibilities.
  • Acting as internal focal point for the project and proactively engaging with internal departments such as Engineering & Construction, Operations & Maintenance, Legal, Finance and Energy Markets.
  • Managing external consultants such as permitting specialists or grid connection advisors to achieve the required development milestones in accordance with approved schedule and budget.
  • Develop projects within the regulatory and environmental permitting framework considering Federal, State and Local requirements.
  • Proactively update and maintain all key project registers (Risk Register, Stakeholder Register and other EGPA internal documentation), and inform senior management as required while proposing mitigation measures and resolve challenges as these arise.
  • Develop, present reports and presentations for Senior/Executive Management team including project performance against approved schedule and budget.
  • Actively engage and foster relationships with key project stakeholders, including landowners, local authorities and TNSP/DNSPs and AEMO.


What we search in you

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree qualification in Engineering (preferred), Planning and Environmental.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in Project development/project origination within the renewable energy industry.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory framework pertaining to renewable energy projects.
  • Good understanding of the Australian energy market
  • Understanding of relevant revenue streams for renewable energy and BESS/Solar projects
  • Sense of Initiative, results-driven and attention to detail.
  • Negotiation skills and understanding of relevant agreements related to land access and development services
  • Excellent skills in MS Office software especially Excel, PowerPoint and MS-Project.
  • Relationship management – ability to work in matrix corporate environments.
  • Requirement to travel from time to time as required.
  • Other reasonable duties as instructed by your employer.
