Due to an internal promotion within the asset management, capital projects, and new business development teams, we have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Project Engineer - Civil to effectively engage and project manage major capital works and maintenance projects within a multidisciplinary team across six bulk sugar terminals.
Reporting to the Manager, Asset Services and Business Performance, the motivated and enthusiastic Project Engineer will provide project management and engineering support whilst ensuring environmental and safety-related objectives are being met to cover assets spanning six sites from Bundaberg to Cairns. The position will work within the project management framework with projects delivered to best practice standards, on time, on quality, on budget and to the satisfaction of the key stakeholders of the industry and owners of the terminals facilities.
Key deliverables include:
- Implement QSL’s procedures, guidelines, processes, and practices to contribute to the achievement of high-level WH&S, quality, and project governance;
- Ensure all works are planned and undertaken to minimise disruption, delay and inconvenience to industry customers and other stakeholders;
- Prepare and assess financial, scope and project schedule estimates for the projects to assist in project evaluation and to achieve project completion within budget and time allotted and value for money outcomes;
- Analyse risk associated with the delivery of project activities, ensuring project performance monitoring and reporting;
- Contribute to procurement requirements, tender assessments and evaluation and support the management and administration of the contract, approved proposed variations and resolutions of contractual disputes;
- Supporting continuous improvement and contributing to innovations to enable cost reductions to projects and processes;
- Implement new business development projects;
- Drive continuous improvement and change initiatives with the terminal teams through superior stakeholder management skills;
- People leadership of direct and indirect reporting relationships;
- Compiling business bases and capital proposals that are Board worthy;
- Providing professional assessment of plant equipment designs, along with innovative solutions;
- Conduct OPEX & CAPEX reviews in line with asset lifecycle plans;
- Maintaining QSL’s safety culture and compliance, ensuring the health and well-being of all team members, contractors, and visitors.
To be considered, you will have;
- Five + years of demonstrated Project Engineering and contracts management experience, ideally with knowledge in structural and/or marine design or project delivery;
- Tertiary qualification as a civil or structural engineer is highly desired, as is project management methodology training;
- Superior negotiation, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of key stakeholders and influence others on change initiatives;
- Knowledge of compiling OPEX & CAPEX budgets;
- A passion for safety and continuous improvement coupled with an excellent track record of driving change;
- Sound working knowledge of asset and project management tools, such as MEX CMMS and Autodesk software;
- Current “C” class driver’s license.
