The Opportunity:
We’re hiring now for a dedicated and proactive Project Engineer/ Snr Project Engineer with a strong background in Civil Construction and logistics. This is an office based role, with site visit requirements, that offers diversity and autonomy as well as significant opportunity for career growth and development. You'll be an integral part of the team, at the forefront of our projects, ensuring smooth coordination and effective execution.
The key responsibilities for this position include.
Project Delivery:
- Serve as the Hawthorne Plant and Logistics Representative across multiple projects
- Delivery of contracting earthworks, drainage and general civil scope.
- Act as an approachable "face of Hawthorne Civil" for assistance and troubleshooting.
- Manage the creation of Project Management plans for individual projects.
- Support the General Manager in ensuring the smooth running and performance of projects.
- Track costs and productivity, recommending changes where necessary.
- Track, forecast, and report on financial and program performance as needed.
- Provide technical support and feedback to site teams regarding specifications, drawings, and design.
Operations:
- Coordinate and manage daily operational activities of the team, such as Business Support, Plant Manageement, BDM, and Logistics .
- Monitor systems and processes for equipment maintenance and yard requirements.
Tenders and Estimates:
- Assist the estimating team in compiling accurate and effective quotes and tender proposals.
- Gather information needed to accurately estimate the cost of labour and materials for tenders.
- Contribute to submission writing to refine and polish initial drafts when required.
Experience and Knowledge Required:
- Degree qualified Civil Engineer with a minimum of 5+ years demonstrated experience working within Civil Construction.
- Knowledge and affinity for Civil Construction, Earthworks, Drainage, and/or Plant Hire.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work with urgency, and perform well under pressure.
- Clear-minded, focused, and driven to deliver.
- Commercially astute and financially aware, with full ownership of financial outcomes.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Attention to detail, ensuring tasks are done right the first time.
- Strong work ethic and "can-do" attitude.
- Proactive, anticipating issues and tackling problems head-on.
