Position Summary and Objective
The Project Engineer is responsible for the delivery of a range of projects within Westside. The role will own the execute phase of project process and will manage the budget, schedule, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover to operations for a suite of projects. The role works closely with construction coordinators, consulting engineers and construction contractors to support the delivery of projects.
The Project Engineer will work across office and site locations, with regular site trips inherent in the role.
Position Responsibilities and Duties
Individual Responsibilities

- Report suspected breaches of any Westside policy, procedures or values to their manager or Human Resources.
- Cultivate, manage and maintain positive business relationships with all internal and external stakeholders of Westside.
- Complete any ad hoc duties, tasks or projects as directed.
Position Duties
- Provide leadership by communicating Westside’s Health and Safety Culture, ensuring all team members and subcontractors understand and adhere to Westside’s commitment towards safety.
- Develop project cost estimates, approvals for expenditure and report on the cost performance during execution.
- Develop project schedules, report on and manage any risks to the schedule.
- Ensure project drawings are correct and up to date in the document control system.
- Develop and execute on project strategy, project execution plan, contract strategy and management systems for project delivery.
- Prepare the scope of work documents and input into specifications, procedures and processes.
- Ensures readiness for execution – providing input to internal and external approvals.
- Responsible for the monitoring, review and updating of vendor/supplier and Contractor cost and schedules as well as input into internal and external reports.
- Maintain project interfaces during design, construction, commissioning and handover to operations.
- Responds to Technical Queries and RFI’s raised by the contractors or internal teams.
- Co-ordinate the project close-out meetings and capture of project lessons learned and fed back to all Westside stakeholders for the benefit of future projects.
- Manage the Document Control and Estimating functions within the assigned projects.
- Ensure project controls and reporting requirements are clearly defined and communicated within execution scope.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor of Engineering. Preferred majors in any of mechanical, process or electrical engineering.
- Experience in the Oil and Gas or Construction industry is highly regarded.
- Familiarity with project control principles preferred but not essential.
- Strong analytic, strategic, management skills with the ability to cultivate, manage and maintain professional working relationships.
- Between 2 - 4 years demonstrated experience in an engineering, project or operations environment.
