We currently have an opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team, based in Northwest, Tasmania on an 18-month Fixed Term contract.

As a Project Manager at Strait Link, you will be pivotal in achieving our strategic goals. You will manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and risk management. Your role will involve close collaboration with key stakeholders, fostering strong relationships to facilitate effective change management and project outcomes.

What you will do - Your key responsibilities in this position will include:

  • Opportunity Identification & Development: Support the business in identifying opportunities, developing concepts, and creating initial business cases.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to define project scopes, develop Project Charters, and initiate projects.
  • Business Case Development: Conduct cost/benefit analyses, feasibility studies, and prepare capex requests for strategic projects.
  • Project Management: Utilize structured yet flexible methodologies to manage project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor project costs, track benefits, and ensure no over-expenditure.
  • KPI Development: Measure and report on project KPIs to demonstrate improvements and support post-project monitoring.
  • Governance & Reporting: Ensure project governance and administration align with the PMO framework, delivering regular updates and reports.
  • Communication: Lead project communication forums, including working groups and steering committee meetings.
  • Vendor Management: Manage vendors through contract management, performance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support projects aimed at revenue growth, cost reduction, and productivity improvement through data insights.
  • Risk Management: Identify, document, mitigate, and manage project and business risks.
  • PMO Support: Assist in developing and institutionalizing the PMO framework and champion a structured project delivery approach.
  • Senior Management Support: Prepare presentations and reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Ad-Hoc Duties: Perform additional duties as required by your manager.

What you will bring 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and in-house programmes like SERTICA.
  • Competent office/administration and data-entry skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work unsupervised.
  • Ability to manage time, work priorities, and develop rapport with a diverse population.
