Urgent requirement of Project Technical Officer - Contract – Hobart
The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water has a requirement for an Project Technical Officer to support the delivery of a major ICT project for the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD). As Project Technical Officer you will ensure that the technical support within a project, during change manage and transition of the project to Business as Usual (BAU on project closure is delivered in a professional manner.
As a Project Technical Officer you will be required to undertake some or all of the following:
- Investigation and resolution of technical issues including logging, diagnosis and resolution as appropriate under the direction of the project team.
- Structured analysis and a creative approach to complex problem solving and resolution in complex projects to meet deadlines.
- Identify appropriate documentation to apply as well as strong skills to identify and understand related implementation and also ensuring documentation is to the correct standard and quality.
- Support of logistics and cargo preparation within the technical environment.
- Support of Test and Train environments to support deployments and enhancements to systems.
- Implementation of new infrastructure, technology acquisitions, software solutions and upgrades under the supervision of the project team.
- Maintenance of inventories including Documentation, Design Library, Software Assets, Hardware Assets, Communication Systems, Integration Interfaces, etc.
- Demonstrate sensitivity for ICT security requirements at all times.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Successful management and delivery of ICT related projects and/or large corporate ICT transformation programs and an ability to adapt to and work across various delivery methodologies (such as waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
- Experience with hardware installation and hardware maintenance of IT infrastructure and equipment, including servers, routers, switches, VoIP equipment, computers and peripherals, and wireless network equipment, including associated copper and optic-fibre structured cabling.
- Experience with RF, 4G LTE or Satellite communications systems equipment and installation, with a strong understanding and practical experience of RF system components and supporting equipment.
- Provide guidance and leadership to a multi-disciplinary project team, 3rd party vendors, and/or other departmental teams to deliver projects.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with software systems including installation, administration, development and testing.
- An Open Cabling Licence with optical, coax and structured (O, C & S) endorsements.
- Understanding of Antennas and associated cabling/feeder systems and familiarity of masts and associated hardware.
Duration: 12 Months and possible extension of another 2*12 Months
