Job description

Project Manager, Ongoing/Temporary, Sydney

The role is a Project Manager grade 11/12, with the salary for this role starting at $139,787 - $161,663 base plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.

We currently have two roles available: 1 x Ongoing and 1 x Temporary (10-month mat leave backfill).

Join INSW and play your part in creating a sustainable infrastructure legacy for NSW!

About the Role

Are you ready to take the lead in managing cutting-edge infrastructure projects? As a Project Manager with Infrastructure NSW, you'll be at the heart of our operations, steering complex end-to-end projects to success.

As the Project Manager, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of infrastructure projects. This involves not only managing consultant engagement and procurement processes but also ensuring the seamless collaboration of delivery partners and contractors. In addition, you will be responsible for implementing robust internal controls and fostering key relationships across government, local communities, and various stakeholders.

In this role, you're not just managing projects; you're contributing to the orderly and economic development of land, water, and infrastructure in New South Wales. Your impact will ensure that Projects NSW remains at the forefront, delivering vital projects that shape the future of the state.

Some of the key accountabilities for the role include:

  • Delivering project objectives by managing a multi-disciplinary team, overseeing Contractor/s' performance, and ensuring compliance with contract conditions, deeds, and inter-agency agreements.
  • Effectively managing consultants and contractors including scoping, selection, procurement, and appointment processes to ensure alignment with approved project strategy and implementation plans.
  • Adding value by providing insights and expertise while adhering to approved business case and funding requirements; coordinating financial forecasting, budgeting, commitments, and expenditure reconciliation; analysing, interpreting, and synthesizing project information.
  • Achieving agreed deliverables using internal controls comprising: effective risk management using internal reporting formats; following policies, processes and approval gateways including preparing strategy, implementation and delivery plans; business planning and forecasting; monthly, quarterly, annual and ministerial reporting; while ensuring compliance across government's legislative, environmental, sustainability, WHS, procurement and audit requirements.

Our Projects

We currently have a range of exciting projects on the go, including the new Sydney Fish Market, Powerhouse Parramatta, Powerhouse Ultimo, Penrith Football Stadium Redevelopment, and more in the pipeline. In this role you may work across various projects depending on the operational need.

About You

As the ideal candidate, you bring a wealth of expertise, holding tertiary qualifications in engineering, architecture or project management; or have extensive construction industry experience. Your strength lies in leveraging your commercial acumen through a collaborative approach, skilfully negotiating complex contracts and agreements to secure successful project outcomes. Your ability to work autonomously is complemented by a talent for achieving critical milestones, all while fostering strong collaboration within the team.

Moreover, you draw upon your extensive experience in senior roles within substantial infrastructure projects, showcasing hands-on implementation with notable design or construction involvement. Your proven track record in operational cost-management and adherence to controls and governance will play a pivotal role in achieving successful outcomes.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. For more information, please refer to the role description.
