About the Role

Rare Cancers Australia is embarking on an innovative initiative to establish a Telehealth Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program for individuals diagnosed with rare cancers. The Project Manager will coordinate the start-up and implementation of this program, which aims to provide remote access to specialised cancer nursing and navigation support for patients across Australia.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project plan for the Telehealth Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program.
  • Coordinate project activities and workflows and monitor progress, manage the project budget and schedule, manage and track risks or obstacles, and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Build and maintain relationships and facilitate communication and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with the Health Promotion Officer to develop strategies for reaching and engaging rare cancer patients through telehealth channels.
  • Work with the patient support team to provide information, resources, and emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Establish data collection processes to track key metrics and outcomes.
  • Generate regular reports for project stakeholders, summarising progress and highlighting successes and challenges.

This role is offered with a maximum term of 3 years aligned with government funding. However, opportunities for extension or permanent placement may arise during the contract term.

About Us

Furthermore, you will have high adaptability, resilience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organisational setting with a proven ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.

To be considered for this role, you must have relevant experience, skills, knowledge of the healthcare industry, and the required qualifications/certificates.

  • Tertiary qualifications in project management, nursing, healthcare management, public health, or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in project management, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit settings.
  • Strong knowledge of cancer care principles, patient navigation, and telehealth technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation keeping things on track and within budget.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting patients and their families.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and advocacy for equitable access to healthcare resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record systems.
  • Have your own vehicle and be willing to undertake intrastate and interstate travel from time to time.
