Your new company
We are looking for a Project Officer to join the dynamic team of one of our clients for a 3-month temporary role.
Your new role
This position will work closely with traditional owners (TOs) and community groups across the organisation's jurisdiction to ensure the accurate collection and communication of Benefits Distribution instructions for payment in accordance with current policies and procedures, relevant legislation and specified timeframes.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Schedule, plan and conduct consultations with TOs and community groups to obtain instructions on the distribution of benefits in accordance with policy and procedures.
Prepare recommendations for distribution in the form of a reasoned administrative decision and prepare and maintain accurate records such as benefits instruction file notes, meeting attendance lists and reports, briefings, and general correspondence for internal stakeholders in accordance with policy and procedures.
Liaise with the relevant staff to obtain up to date TOs and community group lists and report any changes as required.
Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with TOs, community groups and internal/external stakeholders to achieve benefit disbursement objectives.
Participate as a member of a multi‐disciplinary team to carry out functions pursuant to relevant policies and procedures, legislative and regulatory requirements.
Assist in the coordination of meeting logistics with regional staff as required to achieve meeting outcomes.
Adhere to the Code of Conduct and work in a manner which is professional, respectful, and collaborative to foster sound working relationships within your immediate team and the broader organisation.
What you'll need to succeed
Advanced Diploma of Business, Accounting or relevant equivalent qualification or experience.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a similar role.
Demonstrated high level cross-cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively liaise, engage and coordinate across an organisation and to build productive working relationships with work colleagues, constituents and external stakeholders.
Proven conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills to develop and implement innovative, practical solutions.
Sound writing skills and the ability to produce clear, concise and informative high-level documents for a range of purposes and stakeholders.
The ability to understand and apply basic financial/accounting processes to ensure Traditional Owners receive the appropriate payments.
The ability to appropriately manage the security of confidential and sensitive information to minimise financial as well as other risk to the organisation.
Demonstrated understanding of, and interest in, the lived experiences of Aboriginal people.
Current C Class Drivers Licence and the ability and willingness to undertake remote travel in a manual 4WD vehicle or light aircraft.
