THE ROLE
The Project Officer works within a small, high-performing Aboriginal Strategic Governance team. The role will work collaboratively across the department and in partnership with Aboriginal stakeholders to promote and deliver lasting Aboriginal wellbeing outcomes and facilitate self-determination for Aboriginal organisations and communities in all that we do.
You play a key leadership role in the delivery and implementation of Korin Korin Balit-Djak, the department's Aboriginal health, wellbeing and safety strategic plan, and its associated governance and oversight. Your role is to plan, participate in and support key advisory, governance and oversight bodies and associated activities, projects, communications and engagement with community and other key stakeholders.
The Strategic Governance team will support the department and key government partners advance Aboriginal self-determination for the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
You will develop and maintain relationships across the department and the division, and with Victorian Aboriginal leaders, to incorporates strong Aboriginal voice and drive self-determination.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Help forge strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal services and organisations, government and non-government sectors to facilitate a partnership approach to achieving the strategic priorities outlined in the Korin Korin Balit-Djak Aboriginal health, wellbeing and safety strategic plan.
- Support the Manager and team to deliver facilitation, leadership and project management support to the Aboriginal Strategic Governance Forum and related governance structures to strategically plan, design and implement specific actions and funding aligned to strategic priorities, with a specific focus on:
– Supporting implementation, monitoring and delivery of the Korin Korin Balit-Djak Plan and it's five reform areas;
– Supporting the development and implementation of other projects to support Korin Korin Balit-Djak's strategic priorities.
- Maintain an understanding of issues impacting stakeholders and projects and identify and help manage emerging issues and areas of risk.
