The Underwater Systems (UWS) business line provides design, delivery and through-life-support for a comprehensive set of networked maritime warfare capabilities, involving sonar, underwater systems, mine and electronic warfare.

A great opportunity has become available for an experienced Project Procurement Manager to join the Under Water Systems team.

The Procurement Project Manager (PPM) will be responsible for all upstream procurement aspects of the Projects or Bids under within the UWS business in Australia. The PPM will be responsible for providing the best procurement solution (competitiveness, quality, on time delivery) by engaging in the bid phase, to optimise the solution and propose innovative supply chain approaches. KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Procurement Project Manager for UWS you will be accountable for:

  • Needs and requirement of the procured items and promoting a cost effective supply chain approach with the suppliers to increase the competitiveness of the solution
  • Defining and executing a clear procurement strategy with targets, budgets and KPIs, considering the specifics of the programme
  • Supporting the business preparation of competitive bids or proposals
  • Execution of the Procurement plan and the P-Vet process with the support of the relevant Category Buyers locally and internationally
  • Subcontracts administration including appropriate flow down of head contract clauses and general subcontract administration, via Category Buyers and Subcontracts Managers
  • Ensuring that legal and regulatory requirements (export control, security, environmental regulations, electrical compliance, social considerations, etc.) are understood and properly applied
  • Compliance to the "Manage Acquisition" process and the Thales Group Procurement policies
  • Fostering synergies with the overall procurement activities in Australia and within the Business Line worldwide.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

  • Experience in procurement or strategic sourcing within a high-tech environment and large international matrix organisation with a complex project environment
  • Experience of managing Bid and Proposal procurement activities
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and influence decisions
  • Experience in negotiating and managing contract spends of up to $20M
  • Make/Buy and Risk Management skills
  • Track record of bringing value and ability to capture innovation
  • Strong skill base in IT productivity tools (MS Office, Intelex, Microsoft Planner, Jira etc.)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
