About the opportunity
The Project Draftsperson reports to the Design and Drafting Manager and is part of the Complete by Weeks team. In this highly rewarding role, your focus will be to manage team workflow within specified timeframes in line with the customer’s requests and company standards. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Quality checking files and completed plans before they are published.
- Be able to work autonomously, problem solve and liaise with relevant stakeholders within the business to ensure all documentation produced is to Weeks Homes standards.
- Provide value engineering solutions to developer provided designs, with a focus on increasing cost efficiencies and achieving better design outcomes.
- Review developer provided plans to assess buildability with internal stakeholders.
- Assisting with any queries other departments within operations and construction may have.
- Employ critical analysis to improve the quality of design and documentation.
- Accurately modelling of new house designs in ArchiCAD
- Maintaining knowledge of relevant building codes for compliance with Australian Standards and the National Construction Code (NCC) of Australia
- Create and maintain high quality standard master plans, design options and facades modules for all new products using industry leading practices and processes aligned with the wider NXT business.
- When the business needs provide drafting resource overflow to other internal drafting departments.
About you
You will share a passion for our purpose to be Australia’s number one residential builder and be aligned to our core values. In addition, you will demonstrate:
- 5+ years’ experience as a Building Designer or Draftsperson within the residential building industry.
- Understanding of 3D design and documentation, with experience in ArchiCAD is preferred.
- Qualifications including Diploma of Building Design or Diploma of Architectural Technology or equivalent.
- Knowledge of National Construction Code and Australian Standards.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work closely with others.
- Good organisational and problem solving whilst liaising with stakeholders.
