What does your daily life look like at Yancoal?

As the Property & Tenements Advisor you will provide support to the Manager - Property & Tenements (and Property & Tenements Team) in administering Yancoal' s Australian property and tenements portfolio to ensure compliance, reporting and renewal obligations are understood, documented, tracked, and dealt with in a timely manner.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Maintain awareness of all property and tenement legislative, statutory and policy requirements for NSW, WA, and QLD mining projects
  • Maintain and implement various property agreements (boundary interactions, overlapping tenements etc.)
  • Maintain and manage Property & Tenement statutory obligations
  • Support and undertake the preparation and lodgement of new tenement applications and renewal applications with technical assistance as required from Site, Geology and Exploration teams.
  • Support Manager - Property & Tenements in securing new property agreements as required
  • Support Manager - Property & Tenement secure Native Title agreements
  • Liaison and coordination with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including government, landholders, and the community.
  • Support Manager - Property & Tenements in preparation of Industry and Government submissions on emerging policy and legislation changes in relation to relevant Property & Tenement matters.

What do you need to be successful in the role?

To be successful in the role you will require the following skills:

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Law, Property Development, Business Management, Environmental Planning, Geology or similar is preferred.
  • Valid driver's licence

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong planning, organising and coordination skills.
  • Commercial focus / business acumen.
  • Strong analytical skills and highly numerate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with external and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • High level of computer literacy including - Microsoft office suite of programs
  • Familiarity with tenement management obligations
  • Familiarity with land access and general property agreements
  • Familiarity with Native Title (desirable)
  • Familiarity with GIS systems (desirable)

Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years' experience in property and/or mining tenures preferred
  • Experience in obtaining of statutory approvals for mining projects would be advantageous.
  • Experience in negotiating and drafting property or commercial agreements such as licences and land access arrangements is desirable.
