A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas. Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

About the Role

This is a Permanent Full-Time position at 76 hours per fortnight within the Orthotic and Prosthetic Department It has a case load of approximately 40% prosthetics and 60% orthotics

You will be responsible for providing definitive prosthetic management for children with a wide-range of interesting and challenging limb deficiency conditions including rotationplasty, congenital limb differences and upper limb deficiency. You will also manage a diverse orthotic case load commensurate with experience, with great supervision and education from experienced and committed senior orthotists.

You will demonstrate initiative and a can-do attitude, be excited about maximizing the possibilities of the prosthetic service and have strong lateral thinking and problem-solving skills. You will manage a small orthotic caseload commensurate with experience.

What you’ll achieve:

  • Deliver consistently excellent evidence-based prosthetic care comprising of interim and definitive interventions for children and young adults with lower and upper limb deficiencies or differences
  • Participate in the ongoing development, review and maintenance of administrative processes and improved communication mechanisms, including for NDIS service provision

Classification for this position will range from CP3-CP51 (base salary $86,730 to $99,699 per annum, plus superannuation)

Your skills and experience:

  • Master of Clinical Prosthetics & Orthotics or Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent.
  • Membership or evidence of eligibility for membership to AOPA
  • Clinical experience in the management of transfemoral, knee and ankle disarticulation amputees
